Dolphins are found in oceans across the globe, but Rough-Toothed Dolphins are more often located in deeper waters far out to sea. Named for the irregular ridges on their teeth, these elegant creatures are celebrated in the latest Royal Australian Mint investment series. This is the fifth coin in a series featuring different dolphin species.

Often encountered far from land, Rough-Toothed Dolphins are less well-known than the familiar Bottlenose Dolphin. Their name comes from the unique irregular ridges on their teeth. While they are similar in appearance to other dolphins, distinct features like their conical head and slender nose become apparent upon closer examination. Like other dolphins, they feed on squid and small fish.
